The Van

The van is a heavily modified Mercedes Sprinter by Iglhaut
Iglhaut- allrad
it has permanent four wheel drive, transfer box (high and low ratio) and 3 sets of diff locks (front, center, rear) for when things get tough. We have solar panels trickle charging both sets of batteries and providing 240v through an inverter, a hydraulic winch and a snorkel fitted with a sand filter, which also allows the engine to breath in deep water. The chassis isĀ  modified with up rated suspension, torsion bars and sump and engine guards.

Inside we have two fridges one with freezer, cooker, proper flushing loo and shower and a double bed. Its fairly tight inside being a standard medium wheelbase but with the two front seats turning round and a collapsible table the space is very functional.
Thanks to Mark Millard at Millard Camper conversions in Frome who did all the work with his two sons. A perfectionist, and of course to the team at AJ Reynolds Truck Services in Frome

  1. Hi. I just bought the same sprinter 4×4 except it’s not an iglhaut. I would love to know where you bought the bull bar, and around what price. Is it custom made in UK?

I have a question (although I don’t know if you still read these comments since the content looks from a few years ago..)
I have a Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 2001 and planning on a big overland trip. I see that yours has a winch fitted in the front. How and where did you get this fitted? Because I understood that this was not really possible due to the way the chassis of the older model sprinters is fitted? And have you ever used it on your trips (i.e. would you recommend getting one?) I wondered the same for the snorkel.

Thanks in advance! and love the inspiration you provide here!
